Michael J. Fitzpatrick, Jr., affectionately known as “Fitz,” passed away peacefully on November 19, 2024, at Kansas University Medical Center. Born on May 26, 1973, in Independence, Missouri, Fitz lived a life marked by ingenuity, passion, and devotion to his family.
Fitz built a remarkable career as a drafter and designer for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems, where his talent and dedication left a lasting impact. Outside of work, he embraced his love for karaoke, cigars, gaming, and the outdoors. His adventurous spirit was most evident in his enthusiasm for hunting boar and enjoying time with loved ones.
He is survived by his loving wife, Stephanie K. Fitzpatrick; his daughters, Erin Ellis and Brianna Fitzpatrick; his granddaughter, Rayne Ellis; and his sister, Chrissy Johnston. Fitz’s humor, warmth, and steadfast love will remain in the hearts of his family and countless friends.
A memorial service to honor and celebrate Fitz’s life will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. at the VFW Sugar Creek Memorial Post 3976. The gathering will include a potluck followed by karaoke, a perfect tribute to Fitz’s vibrant spirit. Friends and family are invited to join, share memories, and pay tribute to a truly unforgettable man.
Fitz will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of laughter, resilience, and love will live on in the lives he touched.
