Larry A. True II

Larry Allen True II, beloved friend, coworker, and avid fisherman, passed away on June 20, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 56. Born on June 5, 1969, in Scottsdale, Arizona, Larry’s life was full of adventure, humor, and unforgettable memories.

Throughout his life, Larry lived in many different states.  His career path was as diverse as his travels, ultimately leading him to his final and most cherished role as a Casino Host at Ameristar Casino in Kansas City. It was there that Larry found a true sense of community, creating deep bonds with coworkers and patrons alike. Larry had a deep passion for cooking and was known for his creative culinary flair—especially his famous bunny cakes at Easter and comforting homemade dishes that brought warmth to many. He was also a notorious prankster, known for his playful sense of humor and love of a good joke, often shared with those he loved the most. He created many cherished memories with friends and casino guests—from outings to Royals games at Kauffman Stadium, cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs, and traveling with close companions.  But above all, Larry’s greatest joy was found in the simple peace of fishing. With a cooler packed full of charcuterie items, his favorite beverages, and an assortment of candies, he would happily spend hours—sometimes an entire day and well into the evening—by the water, casting a line and soaking in the quiet.

Larry was preceded in death by his father, Larry True, and his mother, Cheryl (Edwards) True. He is survived by his loving friends, coworkers at Ameristar, and his fishing buddies who shared in his joy for the outdoors. His warmth, wit, and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

In true Larry fashion, he would not want us to hold a service. Instead, if you wish to honor his memory, consider making a donation to one of his favorite fishing spots:

Please write: True in the memo

Larry’s legacy lives on in the laughter he brought, the friendships he nurtured, and the peaceful hours he spent by the water. Tight lines, Larry—may the fish always bite, and the snacks never run out.
