In Loving Memory of Ariel Marie Schafer,
It is with both sadness and gratitude for a well-lived life that we share the passing of Ariel M. Schafer, who left us peacefully at the age of ninety-six on September 30, 2025. Born on January 10,1929, in Fruitville, Colorado to Evan and Dora Waters. She lived a long and beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and devotion to her family.
She was the beloved wife of LaVern Schafer who died on December 29, 2019. The day she passed, September 30, was their 76th wedding anniversary. They spent most of their life together in Colorado on the farm until they moved to Arizona. There they bought a semi and drove along the open road together until they retired. Ariel also learned how to drive the semi. Even after retirement they continued to drive until they were in their nineties on trips from Arizona to Delaware and Missouri. Together they built a wonderful life where friends and family were always welcome.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Schafer of Wilmington, Delaware and Tammy Schafer (Richard Herrington) of Independence, Missouri and three cherished grandchildren, Lindee Kroesen, Eric Schafer, and Lauren Schafer and one great granddaughter Kinslee Kroesen, all of whom brought her immense pride and joy.
Those who knew her will remember her warmth, gentle humor, and generosity. She welcomed everyone with open arms—from her home-cooked meals to her comforting hugs, she brought people together and made every gathering special. She loved picnics with family.
She taught us about strength, kindness, and the importance of family. Whether looking over family photo albums, watching home movies, sharing stories from her past, or cheering on her grandchildren, she created memories we will treasure forever.
Ariel leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and lasting bonds that will live on in all of us. She will be deeply missed but always remembered with love.
