
Clara Marie Wakeman, 94, of Oak Grove, MO, passed away on Friday, November 14, 2025, at Aspire Senior Living in Oak Grove. A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 24th from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, MO.
Clara was born February 27, 1931, in Concordia, MO, to James Dewey and Lillie Lee (Ward) Williams. Clara worked for Branum Drug Store for many years and then later at Purcell Drug Store. She was the first lady of Oak Grove 3 times. Clara enjoyed needle point and working on puzzles. She also enjoyed going to horse shows with her son Steven and was very involved in the Oak Grove Saddle Club.
Clara was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard “Kenneth” Wakeman, son Donald Eugene Wakeman, and several siblings.
Clara is survived by 2 sons, Richard Wakeman of Blue Springs, MO and Steven Wakeman of Kansas City, MO; granddaughter, Tina Kidd of Holden, MO; granddaughter, Michelle Wakeman-Haney of Lee’s Summit, MO, and great-grandsons, Carter & Parker Haney; grandson, Tom Wakeman and granddaughter, Sara Wakeman, both of Germany; sister, Wanda Langley of Kansas; and many nieces and nephews.
