Rebecca M. Holland

Rebecca Mae (Schneder) Holland, age 83, died peacefully at home, on November 17th, surround by her family.  She was born February 16, 1942, in Dayton, Ohio.  Becky, as she was affectionately called, enjoyed early days on the farm in Martinsville, Ohio with brothers Earl Lee and Robert Gene and parents Robert and Sarah (Snell) Schneder.

In 1960, Rebecca graduated from Martinsville High School. Shortly thereafter, she took a job as an administrative assistant at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where she met Gerald Holland, the love of her life.  They were married in Fairborn, Ohio on October 19, 1968.  In January 1969, the young family moved to Gerald’s home state of Missouri.  She lived the last 25 years of her life in Grain Valley, MO.  Becky and Gerald spent 54 years together raising their family; son, Kenneth L. Holland of Grain Valley and daughter, Jeannie Holland of Oak Grove.

Becky was a Food Inspector with the Dept. of Agriculture and President of the Local Kansas City Union.  She retired after 20 years of service, with her last assignment being in Kansas City, MO. When not working, Becky was most proud of her role as “Granny” to her grandchildren and later great-grandchildren and many adopted others who she claimed as her own.  She could often be found at a band concert, ball game, or sitting in the bleachers, ready to cheer on her crew.  Known for her hashbrown casserole and “Granny’s Rolls,” her home was frequently filled with those she loved, gathered around a table, telling some wild tale from the past. Being one that gave freely and wanted for little, it was not uncommon for Becky to be a haven for anyone who was in a time of need.  Becky didn’t know a stranger and lived out her Christian faith daily. An active member of the Sunday Choir and Ruth Circle at Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs, she valued time in fellowship. She was frequently seen with a genuine smile on her face and was quick to say, “Love you, bunches.”

Becky is survived by her son, Ken (Dawn Marie) Holland; daughter, Jeannie Holland; grandchildren; Samantha Clark, Michael Williams, Katie Williams, Kellen (Gina) Holland, McKenna Holland, Quinlan Holland, Cole Dennis and Noah Dennis.  Also, her great-grandchildren, Reagan Clark, Johnny Clark and Amara Lunn.  She is also survived by her brother Robert “Bob” (Mary) Schneder, as well as many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by brothers Virgil “Sonny” Phelps, Earl (Jackie) Schneder and husband, Gerald Ray Holland.

A visitation will be held at Royer Funeral Home, 100 Royer Lane, Grain Valley, Missouri, on Saturday November 22, 2025, from 10:00am – 12:00pm.  Funeral Services celebrating Becky’s life will begin at 12 noon, with internment to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Pastor Theodore Schubkegel Scholarship Fund which will support student tuition at Timothy Lutheran School, 301 E Wyatt Road, Blue Springs, Missouri, 64014, (816)-228-5300.
