Cindy was born on August 19th, 1964, to Jerry and Lillian Egleston. She was the oldest of four children. She was raised in Independence, Missouri and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1981.
In 1980, while attending the Super Bowl Rock & Roll concert at Arrowhead Cindy’s friend Karen and her boyfriend, Greg, ended up introducing Chester and Cindy that evening. It was a love-at-first-sight romance that ended up evolving into a 44-year long love story. Chester and Cindy Wed September 11th, 1981. Together they welcomed three daughters Crystal, Janet, and Amanda. As a military family, they traveled to duty stations and found that home is where you make it, and as long as they had each other, they were home.
Cindy loved to travel, especially to the mountains and gaze out at the beautiful landscapes. In younger years, biking, camping, and fishing were all simple activities she enjoyed alongside her family. She also enjoyed playing board games with family and friends. Cindy proudly served as President of the VFW Post 8101 Women’s Auxiliary and held the role of Gaming Secretary for the post, giving generously of her time and energy in support of fellow veterans and the community. She also was an accounts manager most of her career serving in various roles to support business operations. While she cherished being a mother, investing time in others, and being a daughter, sister, and beloved friend, her proudest title she held in later years was grandma. Some might say she was a baby whisperer—not just to her own grandchildren, but any baby she came across found peace and calm in her warm embrace.
When you remember Cindy, please think of her in the beautiful landscapes of nature—whether it’s the leaves changing, a golden sunset, or flowers blooming on a spring day. All these moments are just as beautiful as Cindy’s selfless soul.
Cindy was preceded in death by grandparents Oscar and Erma Egleston, and Ernest and Martina Milbrandt, Sister-in-law, Joan Egleston, and fur baby Zeus.
She is survived by her husband, Chester Denton of the home, daughters Crystal Summa (Wade), Janet Cordray, and Amanda Lusso (Sean); and ten grandchildren: Angel, Nathan, Claire, Cynthia, Audrey, George, Lilly, Isaac, Hunter, and Celaena “Rosie”. Parents, Jerry and Lillian, birthmother Cathy Cochran, and siblings: Paul, Wayne, Julie (Va’ Sean), and Roxanne (Aaron); and several extended family members and friends, and not to forget–fur baby Tip.
