Laverne S. Breuer, 93, of Buckner, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 5, 2026. A graveside service will be held Friday, February 13, 2026, at Valley Memorial Gardens, behind Royer Funeral Home, in Grain Valley, Missouri.
Laverne was born February 26, 1932, in Levasy, Missouri, to Edward and Adeline Schemmer. She spent her life devoted to her family and those she loved, leaving behind a legacy of quiet strength and care.
She attended school in Levasy, Missouri, graduating two years ahead of her class. After high school, she completed business school and began working at an insurance company. In 1955, she married, and together she and her husband welcomed two children.
While her children were young, she worked as a school bus driver, but once her youngest finished school, she happily retired from bus driving. Later, as her husband approached retirement, his job transferred them to Chicago, Illinois, where they lived for several years before returning to their home on Sundown Valley Road. In the years that followed, she also worked seasonally for the IRS.
Above all else, her faith was the foundation of her life. She was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 1942, and her devotion remained constant throughout her lifetime.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Raleigh Breuer, in 2018; her brother, Dale Schemmer; and her sister, Lucille Novak.
Laverne is survived by her two daughters, Denise Phillips and Brenda Williams (Jeffrey), both of Buckner, Missouri; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild; her brother, Roger Schemmer (Madeline) of Two Harbors, Minnesota; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will cherish her memory.
