Eugene “Pop” Albert Copeland, 83, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away on April 30, 2026. Born on November 12, 1942, in Liberal, Kansas, he was the son of Frank and Wilma Copeland.
Gene dedicated his career to serving others as a firefighter out of station #2, in Independence, Missouri, a role he carried with pride and commitment until his retirement. Beyond his profession, he found great joy in the outdoors. An avid hunter and fisherman, Gene cherished time spent on hunting trips to Canada, Colorado, and throughout Missouri, creating lasting memories in the places he loved most.
He will be remembered for his love of nature, his dedication to his family, and the quiet strength he brought to those around him.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Janie Copeland; two sons, Geno Copeland (Misty) and Jimmy Copeland; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren who will miss him dearly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Wilma Copeland.
