Carol Sue Stoneking, 82, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 28, 2026. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
Born October 31, 1943, in Independence, Missouri, Carol was the daughter of Wallace and Zelda Edson. She lived a life centered on family, friendship, and simple joys. Carol especially cherished time spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and happiness.
She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and, in her younger years, found great pleasure in gardening. Carol also valued the friendships she built with her neighbors over the years, treasuring those connections deeply.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Cecil Stoneking, in 2018; and her brothers, Richard Edson and Guy Edson.
She is survived by her son, John Wesley Steele of Lexington, Missouri; her daughter, Michele Clark (Perry) of Blue Springs, Missouri; her grandchildren, Justin Clark (Donna) of Independence, Missouri, Amanda Curiale (Andrew) of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, Amber Clark of Oak Grove, Missouri, and Joshua Clark of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; her great-grandchildren, Makenna Krough, Alayna Vogler, Christina Vogler, and Michael Curiale; her brother, Robert Edson of Grain Valley, Missouri; and several nephews.
