Dennis David “Denny” Landis


Dennis David “Denny” Landis, 73, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026.

Born on January 15, 1953, Denny was raised in Raytown, Missouri, and graduated from Raytown High School with the Class of 1971, where he played varsity football. One of his biggest loves was coaching Raytown Little League football alongside his father, Al Landis.

Denny proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1971 to 1973, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal (E-3). During his service, he was stationed in Okinawa, Japan and served during the Vietnam era.

Throughout his life, Denny worked as a truck delivery driver, a career that reflected his strong work ethic, reliability, and dedication. In addition to his trucking career, he spent many years working evenings and weekends behind the bar at Raytown Fun House Pizza, where he became a familiar face and formed countless friendships within the community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Landis, and his parents, Joseph “Al” Landis and Marilyn Landis.

He is survived by his longtime partner, Cheryl Vannice; five children; fourteen grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; seven siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews, extended family members, and friends.

Denny will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, 1823 N. Blue Mills Road, Independence, Missouri, with funeral services immediately following at 1:00 p.m.
