Linda A. Harrell, 72, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Friday August 14, 2020 at St. Mary’s Hospital. A celebration of life will be held from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. on Friday, August 21st at the Independence Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #1, 18300 Mo-78, Independence, MO 64057.
Linda was born November 26, 1947, in Kansas City, MO, to Delbert & Eva Simpson. She attended Central High School in St. Joseph, MO, where she met Jim Harrell & married at an early age. They lived in St. Joseph for a couple of years before moving to Independence where she lived until recently moving to Grain Valley to be closer to her family. Linda worked for JCPenney before beginning work for a local family owned grocery store. She then went to work for Jackson County Records Dept., followed by working at Kansas City Title where she loved her work and those she worked with. Linda loved football & her Chiefs, Nascar, the horse races, playing poker with friends, going to the casino, and playing bingo. Her biggest love and passion was watching her granddaughter cheer. Nothing brought her any more joy & pleasure than going to cheer competitions, high school, & college football and basketball games to watch her cheer.
Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Eva Simpson; father, Delbert Simpson; and sister, Dianne Nelson.
She is survived by her daughters, Tresa Thornhill (Rob), and Cheri Nix; her absolute pride and joy, granddaughter Ashlyn Nix; Jim Harrell who has been a part of her life for 58 years; and Ona and Michelle Sielaff.
