Barbara Kay Lyons, 83, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at Aspire Senior Living in Oak Grove. Services will be held on Monday, July 6th at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, with visitation from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. followed by the funeral at 1:00 p.m.; burial in Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lee’s Summit, MO. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Barbara was born on September 25, 1942, in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of Walter and Helen (Jones) Westwood. She graduated High School in 1960. She married Richard Lyons and they just celebrated 66 years of marriage on June 26th. Barbara enjoyed playing card games, Farkle, and dominoes. She also enjoyed travelling and went to Europe, Ireland, California, and Florida. Barbara loved animals and enjoyed watching hummingbirds outside the window. She also liked Richard giving her a ride on the golfcart (Gopher). Barbara had a passion for crocheting and crocheted blankets for all 6 grandkids and 11 great-grandkids for Christmas. Her homemade noodles were a hit!
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Walter and Barry Westwood; sister, Caroline Sue “Susie” Leibrecht; and her beloved dog, Uggie.
Her survivors include her husband, Richard Lyons; three children: Jeffrey Lyons (Elaine), Karen Lyons, and Pam Breshears (Troy); sister, Joyce Kelly; six grandchildren: Justin Breshears, Michael Breshears, Randal Herrington, Garrett Herrington, Nolan Lyons, and Sarah Harris; and eleven great-grandchildren.
