
Martin “Mutt” E. Dyer, 93, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 28, 2016 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 3rd at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO; burial in Oakland Cemetery, Buckner, MO. The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, May 2nd at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to Oakland United Methodist Church in Buckner.
Martin was born October 1, 1922, in Buckner, Missouri, the son of Claude and Lorean (VanDyke) Dyer. He served in the U.S. Army Airforce during WWII. Martin was a warehouse supervisor at Schooley Printing Company. He was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church. Martin enjoyed fishing, traveling, and spending winters in Harlingen, TX. He especially enjoyed being with family and his grandchildren.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents; brother, J.C. Dyer; his wife, Helen in 2007; and one daughter, Marcia Richards in 2009.
His survivors include two daughters: Terri Surface of Grain Valley, and Barbara O’Connell (Steve) of Blue Springs; son-in-law, Bob Richards of Blue Springs; sister, Erma Lee Potts (Clyde) of Blue Springs; four grandchildren: Cindy Clear (Terry) of Pittsville, MO, John Surface (Terry) of Grain Valley, Stephanie Moore (Derek) of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Wes O’Connell (Stacey) of Grain Valley; nine great-grandchildren; and four great great-grandchildren.
