Miyo Kikue Edwards, 85, of Independence, Missouri passed away Wednesday, May 25th 2016. A visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 also at the funeral home; burial following in Mound Grove Cemetery, Independence.
Miyo was born February 20, 1931 in Tokyo, Japan. She was a member of a Catholic Church and American Legion Auxiliary post 21. She enjoyed playing bingo, cooking, fishing, and was an all-around good mother. She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Edwards Jr; brothers, Saburou Kondou and Masao Kondou; and parents.
She is survived by her sons; Alvin Edwards III (Lisa) of Odessa, MO and Douglas Edwards (Nellie) of Independence, MO; daughter Patricia Bowen (Mike) of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren, Jennifer Smelser (Michael), Christopher Bowen, Alvin Edwards IV (Kristyne), Charity Carlson and Angela Brown (Ray); great-grandchildren, Ariana Smelser and Jessica Brown; brother, Yoshio Kondou; sisters, Mitsuko Ooue and Yoshiko Takemura of Japan; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
