David E. Hanson

David Erick Hanson, 73, of Blue Springs, MO, passed away in his home Sunday, June 18, 2017. His passing was unexpected. Services will be held at Good Shepherd Christian Church, Blue Springs, MO Saturday 6/24. Visitation at 10:00 a.m., service at 11:30 a.m. The family requests memorial contributions be made to Good Shepherd Christian Church.

David was born on July 8, 1943 on a dairy farm in Bucklin, MO. He learned to drive as a young boy as he helped his father driving a tractor on the farm. This fostered a life-long love of tractors and cars, and all who knew him well say he seemed to know everything there is to know about cars of all kinds and eras. As a young man, David worked on the assembly line at Kenworth Trucks and later worked driving short-haul over-the-road for Consolidated Freightways and then Kohl’s. He was a Teamster and a proud member of the UAW.

David had a number of hobbies, including collecting pencils and pens, model cars and tractors. He worked each day’s crossword puzzle in the newspaper, was an avid reader and loved listening to music. He was a member of Good Shepherd Christian Church in Blue Springs, MO.

David loved his family – his wife, Deanna, his sisters and brother, his children and grandchildren. He rarely missed an event where he would have a chance to celebrate, or cheer on, or brag about those he loved. David was preceded in death by his parents, Erick and Violette Hanson, his wife Deanna, granddaughter Monica, brothers-in-law Jim Pinnell and Milton Fox, and sister-in-law Sandy Hanson. He

is survived by three sisters, JoAnne Fox, Edith (and Bill) Gordon, Hilda (and Dale) Sayler; brother, Philip Hanson; daughters Lauri (and Steve) Phillips and Lisa Conner (and Howard Spector); sons Jim (and Bobbi) Hanson and Steve (and Karina) Conner; granddaughters Megan (and Tyler) Curtis and Erica (and Tony) Benedetto; and grandsons Braden and Blaise Phillips, Ty and Stanley Hanson, Andrew Connor, and Finley Spector; and great granddaughter Noelle Benedetto.
