P. Randall “Randy” Hazelrigg


Phillip Randall “Randy” Hazelrigg, 68, of Independence, Missouri, went to his Heavenly home on February 27, 2019.  A Service of Remembrance will be held for Randy at East Side Baptist Church, 19901 MO-78, Indep, MO 64057 on Sunday, March 10th, with time for visiting with the family at 3:00 p.m., followed by the service at 4:00 p.m.

Randy was born March 17, 1950 to Ross and Gretta (Fusselman) Hazelrigg in Quincy, Illinois.  He graduated from West Pike High School in Kinderhook, Illinois in 1968 and then attended Graceland College for 2 years.  Randy was in the construction field until he joined the Independence Fire Department in 1981.  He retired from there after 29 years of service.  In April of 1979, Randy married Jeanie Machart, and they called Independence their home.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, classic cars, gardening, serving at church youth camps, and teaching CERT (Certified Emergency Response Training) classes.  Randy loved being involved with his family and friends and will be greatly missed. 

He is survived by Jeanie, his wife of almost 40 years; two daughters: Cynthia Chouteau (Jimmy) and Lourie Dawson (Hi-me); eight grandchildren: Ellianna, Ethan, Emery, & Evelyn Chouteau, and Olivia, Oliver, Victoria, & Valor Dawson; sister, Joan Pottorff (Al); brother, Truman Hazelrigg (Nancy); brother-in-law Mark Carrick (Beth); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
