Rudolph “Rudy” Hurst, 92 of Independence, MO passes away May 16, 2019 at his home. Visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 23rd at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home, Independence, MO, with funeral to follow at 2:00 p.m.; burial at New Salem Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 14310 E 42nd St S, Ste 600, Independence, MO 64055.
Rudy was born July 18, 1926 in Bertha, MO to Grant & Tisha (Collins) Hurst. He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. Rudy was a postal worker, a saw miller, and could fix anything. He loved being a grandfather.
Rudy is survived by 2 sons: Thomas Hurst of Alma, KS, and Charles Hurst (Renee Morgan) of Lawrence, KS; 1 brother: Donald Hurst of Mountain Home, AR; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris in 2018; 1 son, Gary Hurst; parents, Grant & Tisha Hurst; and several brothers and sisters.
