Alta Marie Lane was reunited with her husband, Henry Lane, in the presence of their Lord on February 25, 2016. She was born on December 1, 1933, to Henry and Cuba Cooper in a little house just outside of Fairplay in Polk County, Missouri. She graduated High School and took her first job as a bank teller, a profession she would embrace throughout her life. While visiting her cousin, she took a job as a waitress at the “66 Café” in Groom, Texas. There she met a charming suitor who persistently proposed until she finally said yes. In June of 1953, she joyously became Mrs. Henry Lane, a love affair that has survived her husband’s death and now continues as they share eternity. After their marriage they moved to Independence, Missouri where they began a family that would eventually grow to 3 children, 7 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and counting. Marie was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved attending her family’s many activities and was never too busy to share her time. Marie was saved at the age of 13 at Dunnegan Missionary Baptist Church and was a member of Reach Out Missionary Baptist Church. She was a loving and caring individual who touched the lives of all who knew her.
She is survived by their three children, Terri Swartwood and her husband, Dale; Greg Lane Sr. and his wife, Rebecca; and Doug Lane; her grandchildren: Amy Swartwood, Greg Lane Jr. and his wife, Jenny, Sara Beth Lane Prideaux and her husband, Scott, Jason Swartwood and his wife, Lindsay, Zack Lane and his wife Jen, Cody Lane and his wife, Justine, and Ethan Lane; her great-grandchildren: Hannah Swartwood, Gabrielle and Hailey Felix, Molly Rhea, Oliver Prideaux, Norah Swartwood, Aiden Lane and Harper Lane on the way.
