Eileen Esther Melichar, 66, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Thursday, May 26, 2016. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, May 30th at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 2200 N. Blue Mills Road, Independence, MO 64058. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
Eileen was born November 3, 1949, in Westphalia, Kansas, the daughter of Joseph and Mildred (Lutz) Highberger. She attended schools in Westphalia. Eileen lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa and then moved to Independence in 1979. She was a clerk for the U.S. Government. Eileen was also a homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.
Her survivors include her son, Robert (Stacy) Melichar of Blue Springs, MO; daughter, Kristi Heitman of Kearney, MO; sister, Karen (Gary) True of Westphalia, KS; brother, Dennis (Tanya) Highberger of Raymore, MO; five grandchildren: Siera Heitman, Sage Heitman, Michael Melichar, Mikayla Triplet, & Kennedy Shipman; and great-grandson, Keilyn Triplet.
