Oralea Joan Merrick, 82, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at Centerpoint Hospital with her family by her side. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, April 21st from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove.
Oralea was born in Richmond, Kansas on April 12, 1936 to Harry and Louise Stevenson. She married Austin Merrick on January 5, 1953. After the death of her husband in 1974, she raised their four children and was the center of their world. She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard; brother, Clifford; and niece, Cheryl.
She is survived by her three daughters, Roberta Weir (Ernest), Melody Merrick and Camelia Williams (Lowell); six grandchildren, David, Ashley, Elizabeth, Marsha, Jessica and Lucas; ten great-grandchildren, William, Hay-Lee, Christina, Gage, L.J., Elisha, Melody A., Kendall, Madison and Kimber; sisters, Dolores Montague and Rosetta Williams; nephews, Robert, David and Kenneth; nieces, Loretta and Ruby; and numerous “adopted” family and friends.
