
Vaun Averon Reader, 78, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 26th at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
Vaun was born September 20, 1940, in Oak Grove, Missouri, the son of George V. and Helen I. (Essex) Reader. He was a member of the Oak Grove Methodist Church and The Oak Leaves and was a board member of the PWSD #17 and the Oak Grove Cemetery Board. Vaun also mowed Oak Grove Cemetery for over 33 years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting, fishing, camping, traveling, gardening, and raising cattle.
Vaun was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Vincent Reader Jr.; uncle, William Averon Reader, and aunt, Maxine Schnackenberg.
His survivors include his wife, Donna Reader of the home; five children: Jennifer Peek (Mike) of Kansas City, Matt Reader (Mary) of Oak Grove, Ernie Stewart (Michelle) of Oak Grove, Ryan Luna (Olivia) of Oak Grove, and Richard Luna of Holden, MO; eleven grandchildren: Mara, Max, Austin, Mattie, Jack, Tara, Courtney, Tyler, Kelsey, Mia, and Richard; and four great-grandchildren: Hayden, Kensligh, Aubriegh, and Aria.
