Gregory Lee Smith, 65, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Villages of Jackson Creek, Independence, MO. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 2nd at Royer-Hays Funeral Home, Blue Springs, MO. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Gregory was born March 11, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of Glenn and Bettie (Duel) Smith. He enjoyed writing music and playing guitar, playing computer games, and cooking barbeque. Greg was an amateur astronomer and a fan of the K.C. Chiefs.
Gregory was preceded in death by his wife, Rhonda Smith in 1996. His survivors include his son, Tim Smith (Evangelina Hill) of Kansas City; daughter, Melissa Smith (Robert Pierce) of Lee’s Summit, MO; two granddaughters, Kayla & Kiera Pierce of Lee’s Summit; sister, Keela Seelandt of Phoenix, AZ; and brother-in-law, Larry Forgey of San Diego, CA.
