Derek J. Stallman


Derek Joseph Stallman, 18, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2019.  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, October 6th at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Oak Grove Sound of Panther Pride Marching Band or Boy Scout Troop #266.

Derek was born on May 14, 2001, in Kansas City, Missouri.  He was a 2019 graduate of Oak Grove High School, where he was a member of the Sound of Panther Pride Marching Band.  Derek was an apprentice tech at Discount Tire in Blue Springs.  He attended First Baptist Church of Oak Grove and was a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts of America.  Derek was an avid fisherman and hunter, a car enthusiast, and was always looking for the next deal.

His survivors include his mother, Dawn Draper of the home; his father, Russell Stallman (Tamra) of Oak Grove; five siblings: Byron Stallman (Kaiti) of Cottontown, TN, Heather Stallman of Independence, MO, Casey Lee Smith of Baton Rouge, LA, Haley Jo Stallman of Grain Valley, MO, and Samantha Lynn Stallman of Oak Grove; his girlfriend, Ariana Cruz of Oak Grove; paternal grandmother, Diana Bridge of WA; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews; and many, many friends.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and his paternal grandfather.

  3. I can’t express how very sorry I am. I loved Derek like a son. He was the most respectable young man. I enjoyed him being at my home and was a best friend to Gabe. They were like brothers. I love him dearly and he will be truly missed. I love you Derek – until we meet again! – Vickie Doenges
