Leona Mae Uchtman, 84, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, February 22, 2017. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 27th at Blue Springs Assembly of God, 2501 E. Duncan Road, Grain Valley, MO 64029. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the church.
Leona was born February 2, 1933, in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of Frank and Ivana “Jenny” (Sincic) DeFilippo. She married Charles Uchtman on July 10, 1966. Leona was the office manager at Harding Glass for over 10 years, and a member of the Teamsters for over 20 years. She loved her church, music, and traveling on the weekends.
Leona was preceded in death by her parents, and one son, David Griffin.
Her survivors include her husband of 50 years, Charles Uchtman of the home; nine children: Craig Griffin of Blue Springs, MO, Debi Williams (David) of Warrensburg, MO, Pat Droege of Pleasant Hill, MO, Tom Griffin (Yoli) of Independence, MO, Dennis Uchtman (Charlene) of Carthage, MO, Steve Griffin (Cindy) of Lenexa, KS, Randy Griffin (Linda) of Vibbard, MO, Doug Uchtman (Patty) of Pleasant Hill, and Paula Liberty of Lee’s Summit, MO; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters: Donna Cooper (Sid) of TX, and Francesca Mohr of FL; one brother, Frank DeFilippo (Lynn) of TN; and many more relatives and friends.
