Norma J. Wagner


Norma Jean (Curby) Wagner, 83, of Blue Springs, went to be with the Lord on January 10, 2017.  Norma was born on March 23, 1933 in Blue Springs, Missouri to Erwin D. and Ethel L. Curby.  She was preceded in death by her mother and father, stepmother (Dorothy), and her twin brother, Eugene Curby and brother, Gary Jay Curby.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Richard Allen Wagner, daughters, Kathleen Henderson (Dean) and Lisa Fox (Thomas), sisters, Juanita Mainard and Glenna Thrasher and brother, Daniel Curby (Nancy), three granddaughters, two grandsons, one great grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

While attending Blue Springs High School, she was active on the basketball team as co-captain and was invited to go on the road with a professional women’s basketball team after graduation.  While she was not able to join them, it was an honor to be invited for her talent.  She was deeply rooted in her Christian faith and enjoyed playing piano for Church for many years.  She was a wonderful and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.  She enjoyed watching sports, collecting angel figurines and working word search books.   She will be deeply missed.

Cremation and no services planned.  The family will have a private celebration of life at a later date, per her wishes.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Village Hospice Fund (the hospice house at John Knox Village) at 400 NW Murray Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO  64081.  Or a donation to the American Heart and Stroke Association.
