Patricia “Pat” L. (Lynch) Wilcox


Patricia “Pat” Louise (Lynch) Wilcox of Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at the age of 82.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 10th at St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 Lee’s Summit Road, Independence, MO; burial in New Salem Cemetery, Independence, MO.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 9th at the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Catholic Charities, 850 Main Street, Kansas City, Missouri 64015.

Born on June 22, 1934, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Laurence and Nadine Lynch, Pat was the youngest of seven children.  Known by all for her outgoing and personable nature, Pat was an avid Chiefs football fan and bowler who was famed for her celebratory “jump” when she bowled a strike.  She loved to travel and ventured to many corners of the country and throughout the world.  She was very proud of her Irish Catholic heritage, but anyone who met Pat knew her pride and love for her family. 

She is survived by her six children:  Don Wilcox (Mary), Linda Bligh (Robert), Patti Horner (Bill), Barbara Scott (Mark), Mary “Gini” Justice (Rick), and Larry Wilcox; her sister, Theresa Lynch; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
