Helen D. Denton


Helen Dorthea Denton, 87, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Helen was born October 2, 1933, in Stella, Missouri, the daughter of Homer D. and Alice M. Duckett.  She was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.  Helen loved taking care of people.  She was always making people laugh with the things she said and always made sure you knew you were loved.  Helen was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness and spent most of her time reading her Bible.  She also enjoyed planting flowers and fixing biscuits and gravy on Sunday mornings for her family.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Chalmer Byrd in 1987; her second husband, Wayne Denton in 2008; her son, Cecil Byrd in 2019; and five siblings: Robert Duckett, Gene Duckett, Ray Duckett, Dean Duckett, and Christine Williamson.

Her survivors include five children: Irma Goodridge (Kevin) of Bates City, MO, Randy Byrd of Blue Springs, MO, Robert Byrd of Independence, MO, John Byrd (Janice) of Independence, MO, and Ron Byrd of Blue Springs, MO; nine grandchildren; and twenty great-grandchildren.
