Jon Samuel Coleman, 44 years old, resident of Mission KS formerly of Oak Grove, MO. died at his home on July 25 in his sleep of a Heart Attack.
Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 a.m. Friday August 2, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove. Memorial service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church.
Jon was a graduate of Oak Grove high school in 1986. He had a quest for learning for which kept him in the Academic Field for many years.
After obtaining his Masters Degree at UMKC he was employed with Baker, Sterchi, Cowden & Rice LLC of Kansas City, MO. first as a Paralegal and later as their IT Director. He traveled annually to many Conferences over the Country.
Jon was a member of the First Baptist Church, Oak Grove, MO.
Jon was an avid distance runner and cyclist. He participated in many fundraising events. He participated annually with Dog & Jog and Hospital Hill Run as well as others.
He is survived by his parents, Jim and Shirley Coleman Oak Grove, MO., a brother Jim Coleman and wife Rejeana, Bluesprings, MO., and a brother Jeff Coleman, Lee’s Summit, MO., nieces: Christine Coleman, Stina Frazier and nephew Bobby Porter along with one great-niece and three great-nephews. Also surviving are his two favorite companions; his whippet dogs, Iris and Wrigley. Jon spent a lot of time training and taking care of them as they truly became his family. He also leaves many friends as he had a very out-going personality and liked people as well as his work.
