Orval “Jack” Cathey, 68, of Blue Springs, Missouri passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2006 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 006 at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley, Missouri; burial in Valley Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6th at the funeral home. The family suggests contributions to the American Cancer Society or Odyssey Health Care Hospice.
Jack was born on January 7, 1938 in Independence, Missouri, the son of George Orval and Bertha Emma (Browning) Cathey. He attended Fairmount Grade School and Manual High School. Jack served in the United States Nay from 1956 to 1960 as an electrician 2nd class, serving on Monrovea APA 31, Westchester County LST1167, and Montecello 31. He then worked for Kansas City Power and Light for 30 years, retiring in 1994. Jack was a member of First Baptist Church in Blue Springs. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Virginia M. Jordan.
His survivors include his wife: Maggie Cathey of the home; three sons: Cameron J. Cathey & his wife, Stacey of Bates City, MO, John D. Carlisle of Oak Grove, MO, and Robert A. Carlisle of Blue Springs, MO; one daughter-in-law: Sinla Carlisle of Independence, MO; one sister: Ruth E. Box of Springfield, MO; six grandchildren: Alex & Jessica Cathey, Tyler D. Ross, and David, Ashlea & Brandon Carlisle; and many nieces and nephews.
