Anna Mae (Smart) Gard, 87, Independence, Missouri, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Kansas City Hospice House. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 7th at South Crysler Restoration Branch, 16101 E. Salisbury Road, Independence, MO 64050, with a graveside service & interment at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri. Anna Mae was born October 1, 1926 in Eads, Colorado. She was married on October 29, 1948 to Edgar Gard who preceded her in death on November 10, 2008. She was a devoted wife and mother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She was a faithful member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and a member of the South Crysler Restoration Branch at the time of her passing.
She is survived by two brothers: Clyde Smart of Reno, Nevada & Paul Smart of Kearney, Missouri; three sisters: Wilma Dunlap, Bonnie Thomas, & Betty (Kenneth) Stobaugh, all of Independence, Missouri; three sons: Gregory (Jean) Gard, Jeffrey (Pam) Gard, & Bradley (Melody) Gard; daughter, Lynette (Paul) Davis; nine grandchildren: Candy Stone, Cerissa Bruns, Shauna Jacks. Libby Gard, Molly Gard, Rachael Wittenberger, Angela Stevenson, Rachel Wood, & Christian Davis; ten great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
