Jan attended High School in Pickwick, Minnesota, where she met her first husband (and father of her children) Jerry Babcock. She was widowed in 2009, when her second husband Jewell Barlow passed away. Jan attended nursing school, but left to start her family with Jerry; and support him in his ministry. Jan was a wonderful pianist, and played for many churches in Minnesota and Missouri over her lifetime. Her whole family enjoyed Jan’s wonderful garden, and her home-grown corn from their former sheep farm was said by many to be the world’s sweetest corn! She loved to can pickles and other produce, in fact people still remark about her cinnamon watermelon pickles. She inherited her mother’s love of baking, often sharing cakes and goodies with others.

Jan loved the Lord, and lived her entire life to please him. We believe she has finally achieved her goal – to be in the presence of her Savior, and hear those longed-for words: “well done, my good and faithful servant”.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her older brother Jerome Swedberg (Elaine).

Jan is survived by her five children Kris Babcock, Kimberley Kinsey (Robert), Nate Babcock, David Babcock (Linda) and Mark Babcock, as well as grandchildren Brian Hills (Jessica), Lauren Hoerath (Tyler), Ryan Babcock, Lauren Babcock, Alexandria Thomas, Lindsay Babcock; and two great-grandchildren Aubrey Archuleta and Scarlett Roberts. Jan is also survived by her brothers Dennis Swedberg (Carol) and Steve Swedberg (Emma).

The family would like to especially thank Graciela Cortes who took care of Jan in her final three years, and become a treasured friend.
