Barbara L. Griffith


Barbara Lea Drinkwater Griffith, 91, passed away on Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at Ignite Medical Resort, formerly St. Mary’s Manor, after an extended illness.  Per her request, she will be cremated, and a private burial of ashes will be held at a later date.  Contributions may be made to the Community Services League, the Oak Grove Historical Society, or a charity of your choice.

Barbara was born on April 19, 1930, in Lone Jack, Missouri, the daughter of Leo and Margaret (Krick) Drinkwater.  She was a secretary for an insurance company prior to her marriage in 1952 and was associated with Virginia’s Antiques.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, her husband John Wm. Griffith in 1993, son Jerry Griffith in 2018; and siblings Vera Beckner and Don Drinkwater. 

Barbara leaves two sons, David and Gary (Terry); daughter, Diane (Douglas); four grandchildren: Anthony, Patrick, Steven, and Lexi; and two great-grandchildren, Xavier and Cameron.  She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Donna Griffith and Dorothy Drinkwater, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
