Charles Jerus Phillips, 103, of Independence, Missouri, passed away May 10, 2019 at his home. Services will be held on Thursday, May 16th at Royer’s New Salem in Independence, with visitation from 3:00 – 3:30 p.m., followed by Memorial service with Military Honors at 3:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 17th in New Salem Cemetery.
Charles was born September 2, 1915, in Bakersfield, Missouri, to William and Mary (Tyson) Phillips. He served his country in the U. S. Army. He enjoyed woodworking. Charles built and lived in 3 homes. He loved going to the lake and was an avid fisherman and golfer.
Charles is survived by 4 daughters, Emma, Sandra, Bernadine, and Cindy; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Charles was preceded in death by his wife; 3 siblings, 1 daughter and 8 step-children.
