Harold E Young, 93, of Independence, Mo., passed away on Sunday, October 3, 2021, surrounded by his family.
Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Monday, October 11, 2021 at Royer’s New Salem Funeral Home; Independence, MO. Funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. Burial at Salem Cemetery.
Harold was born June 24th, 1928, in Woodbury, Tenn. He attended Wm Chrisman High School and worked at General Motors for 36 years where his last position was General Supervisor. After retirement from GM he worked for Sexton Metalcraft, Inc. as an over the road driver for 10 years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Susanna Potter Young, daughter, Joyce Young, parents, Malcolm and Nezzie (West) Young, and brother Houston Young.

Survivors include his sister, Norma Neill, sister-in-law, Betty Simpson, daughters, Pamela Young and Michelle Young of Independence, Mo, Nan Young Thompson (Alan Thompson) of Leavenworth, Ks, grandchildren, Melody (Eric) Beursken; Brent Johnson, Robert Sauls; Ashley Nading (Brandon Adams) and Amy Combs (Miles); and great-grandchildren Paityn, Jacob, Jonah, Shane, Jackson, Jace, and Oliver.
A special mention to his caretakers, Karen Bark and Cindy Nield who loved him and took care of him up to the very end and to whom we will be forever grateful.
