On May 27, 2014 the loving arms of Jesus Christ took Donald “Don” Elmer Sell home as he was surrounded by his loving family. Don was born the son of Elmer Ray and Iva Lela (Lipscomb) Sell on January 9, 1938 in Melvern, Osage County, Kansas. He proudly served eight years in the United States Army, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Electronics, taught Electronics, worked for RCA, the University of Arizona, and most recently owned an OTR Trucking Company. Don was a member of the American Legion Post 21 and a life member of OOIDA. An early marriage to Patsy produced five cherished children and his marriage to Lynda, the love of his life, brought him three adoring step-children. Don’s strength of character, gentle nature, the unique way he taught by example how to live and love unconditionally made him an inspiration to his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Joe, Paul, and Lyle; and children: Donald Ray and Sheila Kay Sell. He is survived by and will be forever missed by his loving wife Lynda; daughters: Karen Ingraffia and significant other Steve Miller, Lela Gruebel and husband Robert, and Kathy Smith and husband Danny; daughter-in-law: Glenda Sell; step-children: Jeana Higginbottom and significant other Mike Woods, Jeff Bowers and wife Mindy, and Jill Springate and husband Jonathan; grandchildren: Michael Lilley and wife Kristi, Marshal Lilley and wife Jenny, Samantha Ingraffia, Donald P. Sell, Christopher M. Sell, Pamela Martin, Patty Warren and husband Brandon, Mandy Engelbrecht and husband Jason, Danielle Smith, Shannon Davis and husband Jordan, Brandon Higginbottom, Amber Bowers, Aaron Bowers, Alyssa Springate, Kodey Springate, and Kaitlyn Springate; great grandchildren: Abigail, Hannah, Tyler, Austin, Joshua, Annrea, Brayden, Tavin, Declan, Jaxon, Javon, Jett, Elizabeth, Carson, Scout, and Shiloh; siblings: Charles Sell and wife Carmen, Hazel Butts and husband Harley, Daphne Holm and husband Harold; Ivan Sell and wife Marjorie, and Ken Sell, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Visitation will be 1 p.m. and Funeral Service at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 31 at Royer’s Grain Valley, followed by burial in Mecklin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers Don’s family suggests memorial contributions to The Wounded Warrior Project or Disabled Vets.
