Howard Warner, 89, of Independence, MO joined the love of his life, Norma Jo a few days early to celebrate together in heaven their 66th wedding anniversary on December 24th. Howard passed away peacefully in his sleep on December 19, 2021.
Howard’s Celebration of Life will be held Thursday December 30, 2021. 5pm visitation with service following at 6pm. New Hope Baptist Church 18000 Lexington Independence, MO 64058.
Howard Claiborne Warner was born November 19, 1932, in Springfield Missouri to Louis and Gertrude Warner, one of eight children. He attended school in Springfield before joining the United States Navy in 1951. He was a Korean War veteran and served as a parachute rigger. Prior to discharge in 1955, met the love of his life, Norma Jo Lawson. H.C. was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for 37 years before retiring in 1990. On the job and in life, Howard never let a comedic opportunity pass him by, always the first to make a joke. Lover of all sports, metal detecting, gambling, fishing, billiards, old time wrestlers, Columbo and chocolate ice cream. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals (Stan Musial- his favorite player of all time) and the KC Chiefs.
Survived by daughters Terea and Donna (Todd); grandchildren Mindy (Bob) Matt (Amy) Erin (Corey) & Blake (Danyelle); great grandchildren Kayla Jo & Avery.
Proceeded in death by his parents and all siblings: Louis, Wayne, Ted, Arvilla, Barbara, Betty & Doris, son-in-law Rick Bradford and great grandson Zachary Hedges.
