Douglas M. “Pete” Wilks, 67, of Grain Valley, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Blue Springs, MO. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 23rd at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Pete was born June 3, 1944 in McClouth, Kansas, the son of Henry Dayton & Juanita Ruth (Jackson) Wilks. He worked for UPS in California for 17 years, and then for Walmart in Oak Grove and Blue Springs for 11 years, retiring from Blue Springs. Pete was a member of Mid-America Coca-Cola Collector Club.
Pete was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers: Donald Patrick Wilks & Leroy Jackson Wilks.
His survivors include a daughter, Sheila Biondo; a son, Douglas Wilks Jr.; four grandchildren: Kevin Biondo, Kristina Biondo, Samantha Wilks, & Rebeca Wilks; a great grandson, Christopher Avery; two brothers: Dayton Rex Wilks & Lawrence Wilks; and four sisters: Carol Schelske, Linda Peabody, Christine Semays, & Rita Larson.
