Roy Kenneth McAllister, SR., died January 23, 2022. He was born March 30, 1925, in Knob Noster, Missouri, to William L. and Nellie M. (Loding) McAllister. The family moved to Mountain Grove, Missouri, where Roy graduated from high school.
Roy was a WWII veteran serving in the Navy in the Marshall Islands.
In 1948, Roy married Lena Elizabeth Dake. They had 2 children, a daughter who died shortly after birth, and a son, Roy K. McAllister, Jr.
At the urging of his brother, Les, Roy became a union carpenter. He worked primarily for Collins Construction, Co. He was soon promoted to superintendent and supervised commercial building in Kansas City and across the United States.
Roy loved playing golf and fishing. He was fan of the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs. Roy also coached in the 3 & 2 and Eastern Jackson County baseball leagues. He was instrumental in the creation of the Blue Springs Athletic Association.
Roy was a member of the Stanley-Pack American Legion Post 499 in Blue Springs, Missouri. He helped build the boat that was used in local parades.
Roy was preceded in death by his wife, Lena, his parents, William and Nellie, his siblings, Dulcie, Clata, Ed, and Les, and his 2nd wife, Shirley Friese McAllister. He is survived by his son, Ken (Joe Anne), his grandchildren, Elizabeth and Joseph, his step granddaughter Noni Roberts and her family, and his stepsons, Michael Friese, Philip Friese and Tim Friese and their families.
Roy requested no memorial service. His ashes will be scattered on the Dake farm in Mountain Grove, Missouri with his wife, Lena.
The family requests any memorial contributions be made to the Stanley-Pack American Legion Post 499 in Blue Springs, Missouri.
