Sheryl A. O’Connell


Sheryl Ann O’Connell, 61, of Lone Jack, Missouri, passed away in her home surrounded by family and friends on May 26, 2022.  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1st at Royer Funeral Home in Grain Valley, MO.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31st, also at the funeral home. Sheryl was born October 19, 1960, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of Edward Richard and Shirley Annette (Rosemeyer) Hensley.  She graduated as a Registered Nurse from Penn Valley in 1986, graduated from Ottawa University in 2000 with a BA in Business Management, and graduated from Ottawa University in 2014 with a Business Management master’s degree.

Sheryl was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Jacob Wayne Robinson; and her first husband, Wayne Matt Robinson.

Her survivors include her husband, Roland F. O’Connell; five children: Wayne Matt Robinson and wife Lori of Oak Grove, MO, Dianna Michelle Orcutt of Lone Jack, MO, Anjela Ann Fountain of Oak Grove, MO, Richard Lee Robinson and wife Samantha of Oak Grove, MO, and Sheridan Lynn Ridley-O’Connell of Blue Springs, MO; son-in-law, Sean Fountain; nine grandchildren: Hunter Daniels, Lailah Robinson, Braylen Robinson, Kelsee Fountain, Keenin Fountain, Hailey Daniels, Ryker Robinson, Rylee Robinson, and Krew Berry; and three siblings, Debbie Smith of Blue Springs, MO, Rick Hensley, of Kansas City, MO, and Doug Hensley of Bradenton, FL.

  1. We were so blessed to have many sweet memories of Sheryl. Starting with baseball and soccer adventures to games of cards around the kitchen table and multiple stormy camping trips!! Sheryl was fun whatever the setting…So kind and beautiful, intelligent, innovative and even fierce when she needed to be!! Roland, Matt, Angie, Richard and all the family….We are holding you in our hearts and Sheryl will always be there too!
