Grace J. Myres

Grace Jo Myres, 18, of Lone Jack, Missouri departed this world on June 6, 2022.

Born on January 20, 2004, in Blue Springs, Missouri, Grace was the daughter of Elizabeth Jo Hill & Cody J. Myres, and the oldest of her four siblings.

Grace skipped to the beat of her own drum. She was, at her essence, carefree. This allowed her freedom from worry, from judgement, from allowing the thoughts of others to ever spoil her and afforded her the ability to remain sweet as pie.

Speaking of pie, Grace was an avid chef who loved learning new recipes and baking up a storm. She could cook anything she set out to and was always excited to share her creations with family and friends. We learned to stay out of the way and let her feed us because Grace didn’t like anyone in her way in the kitchen.

Creativity brought her joy, and far beyond cooking and baking, Grace was a talented artist. Music was a huge part of her life; she could not go one minute without being the car DJ or a second in the shower without her most recent songs of choice.

When Grace wasn’t cooking, drawing or djing, she was an avid reader and swimmer. Reading novels, poetry, and non-fiction, she could get lost in books, and did, for so many hours at a time. From the time she was a toddler, often swimming daily, she was our water baby and could not get enough of it.

There was not a day, in her too-short life, that passed without her laughing out loud, so loud. Whether it was at her own jokes, a funny video or meme, laughter and humor were incredibly important to Grace. Simply put she could make anyone laugh with her facial expressions and storytelling alone.

Beyond making us laugh, Grace loved her friends fiercely and her family sweetly. Grace was big-hearted and shared without a second thought. Even if she was down, Grace was always thinking of and putting others before herself. And her love for life extended beyond her human companions and into animals of all kind. She had many as pets over the years ranging from reptiles to horses, dogs to rodents, and the most recent addition being ‘Ponyo,’ an orange tabby cat, whom she affectionately referred to as her “son”.

We will miss her infectious, radiant smile. We will miss that laugh that still echoes in our minds. We will miss the random text messages. We will miss her impeccable memory and never letting us forget. We hope to recount the memories

of her as well as she always remembered for us. She left us with so many fond memories, how could we not? We will miss you Gracie Jo, Sissy, Grace Face, Seed.

“Come with me, my love

To the sea

The sea of love,

I want to tell you

How much I love you”
