Alice was born April 24, 1921, in Shannon County, MO, to Dee F. and Maggie (Shelley) Compton. She asked Jesus into her heart at the age of 11 years in Oak Grove Baptist Church in Shannon Co. She graduated from Birch Tree, MO, High School in 1939 and in 1940 married Fred 0. Brown, Jr. They eventually moved to the Kansas City area and made their home for many years in the Buckner and Sibley communities. But Shannon County always had a special place in her heart. Alice was a timekeeper and clerk at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant, retiring in 1978. She was a member of Tri-City Baptist Church. Alice enjoyed painting and loved to write poetry until her eyesight would not let her continue. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life.
Those family members preceding her in death were her parents; sisters, Mary Ann Compton and Frances Mann; her husband of 53 years; son, James R. (Jim); brothers-in-law, Arlest Bowling and Earl Mann.
Her survivors include a daughter, Judy and husband Gerald Rinacke of Sibley; a sister, Ruth Bowling of Buckner; daughter-in-law, Valarie H. Brown of Geneva, IL; grandsons: Todd Brown (Kristi McDaniel) of Linden, TN, Kevin (Elaina) Rinacke of Grain Valley, MO, Danny (Emily) Rinacke of Buckner; granddaughters: Lori (Robert) Ewing of Murfreesboro, TN, and Amy (John) Stewart of Sibley; great-grandchildren: Cole and Dillon Brown of TN, Amatay, Josephine and Gabrielle Boutte, Cheyenne and Aubri Stewart, all of Sibley, Faith and Grace Rinacke, of Buckner, Tristan and Trinity Rinacke of Grain Valley, Ashley, Austin and Jacob Ewing of Murfreesboro; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and some dear friends are left to mourn her passing.
