Barbara J. Davis


Barbara Jane Davis, 79, of Oak Grove, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 11, 2020 surrounded by her family.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15th at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, 400 SE 14th Street, Oak Grove, MO 64075; burial in Sni Mills Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the church.  The family suggests contributions be made to Sni Mills Cemetery Association in care of Doyle Davis, 40100 Colbern Rd. Ext., Oak Grove, MO 64075.

Barbara was born February 6, 1941, in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of William and Ethel (Johnson) Nebgen.  She was the youngest of five children.  One preceded her in death, James Nebgen.  Surviving siblings are Marjorie McCain of Independence, MO, Charles Nebgen of Lee’s Summit, MO, and Lousie Gilleland of Lee’s Summit, MO.

Her survivors include her husband of 60 years, Doyle Davis.  They were married on August 5, 1960 at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove.  She is also survived by her 4 children: Dwayne (Sherry) Davis of Oak Grove, Tammy (Rainbow) Hightower of Lone Jack, MO, Jonathan (Michele) Davis of Cle Elum, WA, and Jeff (Christine) Davis of Oak Grove.  Barbara had 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Barbara was a housewife until her children were grown.  She then went to work for a doctor’s office in Blue Springs until it closed.  After that she worked as a medical billing specialist for a doctor’s group in Independence until she retired. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was known to them as “Gramma”.

  3. I’m going to miss running into Barbara at Walmart. We had seen each other there the last several months and always had the best visits. She was a good friend to mom and they rode many miles together to ballgames and hauling us kids to town. She will be missed. Prayers and hugs from our family.
