Betty I. Breuer

Betty Irene Breuer passed away at age 82 on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Blue Springs, Missouri. She was born October 10, 1940, in Welch, Oklahoma to Richard and Selma (Baker) Corliss. She had two sisters who preceded her in death, Eunice Mae Martin and Dorothy Yvonne Robinson. She married Lloyd Breuer on September 30, 1961, and was married for 51 years until his death on March 26, 2013. Betty lived in the Oak Grove/Bates City area for most of her life. She graduated from Grain Valley High School in 1958. After formal schooling she attended a stewardess finishing school. Although work from stewardess school did not materialize, she gained poise and confidence. Betty worked for a short time at Hallmark cards in Kansas City. She then concentrated her time on serving Jehovah and being a housewife. She never had any children of her own but took great delight in her nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and all the young ones she was around in Jehovah’s organization. Her sister Eunice had three children, Kathy, Lee, and John. Yvonne had 6 children, Connie, Marsha, Richard, twins – Gary and Larry, and Mark. On the Breuer side there is Gigi and Tessie, Denise and Brenda, as well as a cousin, Suzanne Breuer. She loved all of them as if they were her own children. Betty was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on October 10, 1953, at the age of 13, and spent her life serving Jehovah. She gave of herself in helping many as long as that was possible and was a member of the Oak Grove Congregation for her entire spiritual life. She has lost many dear friends over the years and leaves behind many more. Her description of resting death has comforted many. She thought of it as traveling on a train. At death, her loved ones just went back to the sleeping car to rest until we all arrive at our destination of the New World. She too has now joined the sleeping car.

A memorial service will be Sunday, April 23rd at 2:00 p.m., at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1006 Foggy Bottom Road, Bates City, MO. A short graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, April 24th after a viewing (1:00 to 1:30) at Royer Funeral Home in Oak Grove, Missouri.
