Bill Gene Sanderson, 84, of Blue Springs, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 1, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 5th at Royer Funeral Home, Grain Valley; burial in Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner, MO. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service also at the funeral home.
Bill was born in St. Joseph, MO on December 24, 1933. Bill was a veteran of the United States Coast Guard and served from 1953 to 1961. He was employed as a plumber and was a member of Kansas City Local Union #8 for over 40 years. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Grain Valley and Clinton, MO. Bill loved to spend time with family, enjoyed hunting, fishing and going to auctions. He is preceded in death by his mother, Agnes Young; father, William Sanderson; sisters, Mary Van Buren and Marion Wiederholt; and great-granddaughter, Madison Shelton.
His survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sanderson of the home; 4 daughters, Christy Shelton (Paul) of Oak Grove, MO, Jackie Nixon of Grain Valley, Lori Sanderson of Lee’s Summit, MO and Gayla Hay (Doug) of Grain Valley; step-daughter, Crystal Williams of Kansas City, MO; 3 step-sons, Charles Williams of Kansas City, Joseph Williams of Kansas Citya and Joshua Williams of Independence, MO; 10 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Bailey of Knoxville, TN; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. The family would like to give a special thanks to St. Luke’s Hospice.
