Billy L. McGinnis


Billy Lynn McGinnis, 91, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at Aspire Senior Living of Oak Grove.  He was laid to rest on September 26, 2022, in Oak Grove Cemetery.  Memorial services will be held Sunday, October 23, visitation at 2:00 p.m. and service at 3:00 p.m., at the Lee’s Summit Seventh-day Adventist Church, 12501 South State Route 7, Lee’s Summit, MO 64086.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to whitehorsemedia.com.

Bill was born February 27, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of Lynn and Sylvia (Gibson) McGinnis.  He grew up in Kansas City with his older brother Robert (Bob).  Bill attended Enterprise Academy where he met his wife, Helen Conrad, who passed away January 8, 2017.  They were married 66 years.  He taught at Kansas City Jr. Academy, Sunnydale Academy, and Raytown Public School District, for a total of 32 years. He was also principal at Kansas City Jr. Academy for four years.  In addition to teaching, he built or remodeled houses and sold them.  Bill was a member of the Oak Grove Seventh-day Adventist Church. He, indeed, loved the Lord with all his heart.

Survivors include two daughters: Judy Schiefelbusch and Connie Daarud (and husband Steve); three grandsons: Bill Schiefelbusch (and wife Trish), Ben Schiefelbusch, and Matt Daarud (and wife Heather); four great-grandchildren: Candace Schiefelbusch, Caleb Schiefelbusch, Ashley Schiefelbusch, and Caden Daarud; and three great-great-grandchildren: Jeremiah Bolin, Sophia Bolin, and Alayna Turner.

  1. I’m sorry for your loss. I remember Bill and Helen whenever Lucille (Helen’s sister) and John Heiser. Really a great guy.
