Carol I. Sims


Carol Irene Sims, 77, of Independence, MO, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 29, 2024. Carol was born on December 25, 1946, and therefore quickly nicknamed “Christmas Carol.” She graduated from Chrisman High School in 1964 and lived her whole life in Independence.

Carol owned and operated her sign company from 1980 until 1989. She was an exceptional artist and was highly respected by her business peers and community. Her artistic and creative skills touched everyone’s lives, both professional and family.

Carol married Ed Sims in 1986 and began traveling all over the Southwest, her most favorite thing to do with Ed. She loved spending summers with her family at their home at Pomme De Terre Lake near the Ozarks, camping, boating, and fishing.

Carol is preceded in death by her husband, Ed, in 2020 and her son, Gary Wilcox in 2004. Her surviving family includes her son and daughter-in-law David and Kim Wilcox; Daughter, Natalie Johnson; grandchildren Katie Henrichs, Megan Sloan, Nick Johnson, Tim Johnson, Samantha Johnson and seven great grandchildren.

A private family visitation will be held Monday, April 1st, 2024.
