
Cecelia Marie Wilber, 90, joined her Lord and Savior to spend eternity in peace on October 18, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday October 26, 2021, at St. John LaLande Catholic Church, 805 NW R. D. Mize Road, Blue Springs, MO 64015. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday October 25, 2021, at Royer Funeral Home, Oak Grove, MO. Interment at Oak Grove Cemetery.
Cecelia was born November 18, 1930, in Kansas City, MO, to Edward and Mary Elizabeth Coomes. She graduated from Lillis High School in 1947 and worked for a short period of time at Hallmark Cards before marrying Fredrick Atwood Wilber on May 1, 1954. They enjoyed 57 happy years together.
Cecelia fulfilled her dream of having a large family as she and Fred had eight children, sixteen grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren. Cecelia dedicated her life to raising her children according to God’s commands. She was involved in both boy scouts and girl scouts as her children participated in those organizations and countless school and church activities.
Cecelia hosted a rosary group in her home where a small group of women gathered to pray weekly and served on the Alter and Rosary Society at St. Catherine’s parish.
Cecelia demonstrated a servant’s heart as she served at the Oak Grove Senior Center preparing meals for several years and supported upwards of twenty-five different Catholic charities.
Cecelia is survived by her eight children: Chris Wilber, Charles and his wife Dru, Elizabeth Hatchel, Beck and her husband Ben Ryan, Paul Wilber, Marie Winnie, Leslie and her husband Jon Cearley, and Debbie and her husband Don Fannin; 16 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; as well as nieces and nephews.
