Charles D. Jones


Charles Dwight Jones, 89, of Grain Valley, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 22, 2023. Services will be held at The Gathering Baptist Church at 1500 SW Clark Rd, Blue Springs, MO 64015, on Thursday March 30 at 11:00 A.M. with visitation at 10:00 A.M.

Our dad, Dwight Jones, was born November 18, 1933 in Cedar County, Missouri to Charles Clifford and Beryl (Gannaway) Jones. Dad graduated from Central High School in Kansas City in 1952. He attended William Jewell College and graduated from Finley Engineering School. He then served on the USS Yorktown and in the Navy choir from 1956 until honorably discharged in 1957.

After returning home, Dad worked at various steel companies as a draftsman engineer. He was a member of Monroe Avenue Baptist Church, charter member of Southview Baptist Church, and charter member of Plaza Heights Baptist Church. He served his Lord as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and director, choir member, soloist, Scoutmaster, and mentor to many.

Dad married the love of his life Deanne in 1954 and raised 6 children with her. They have lived in the Blue Springs and Grain Valley area for the last 60 years. Dad loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren to a distraction. Dad was famous for his sweet tooth and love of ice cream. His kindness to everyone and humility exemplified Christ’s love to everyone he met.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Dwight is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Deanne Jones, of the home; son, Chuck and Rhonda Jones; daughter, Jennifer and Cary Williams; daughter, Melissa Rausch; son, Jeff and Sheila Jones, daughter, Melanie and Mark Fanara; son, Philip and Mary Jones; brother, Lannie Jones; 24 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

  1. To all the family, so sorry for your loss. You know if he found Lloyd in the big crowd up there they are fishing. You are so blessed to have no doubts of the amazing life Dwight lived. Your all together and that is amazing. Thank you for loving my girl,also.
