Christopher S. Wanager


Christopher Shane Wanager, age 62 of Odessa, MO passed to Heaven on October 10, 2024 in the ICU at Providence Hospital, after sustaining traumatic injuries from his semi-truck accident on August 28th on I-70 near Boonville, MO, while bringing his truck load back to Kansas City.

Graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Oak Grove Cemetery; Oak Grove, MO.

Chris was born in historical Lexington, MO on November 24, 1961 to parents James & Judy Deatherage-Wanager Wellington, MO.

Chris is survived by his daughter Victoria Lyn Wanager of Excelsior Springs, MO; mother Judy Wanager; brother Erik Wanager; nephew Patrick Morgan all of Oak Grove, MO; niece Hollie Townley-Fielden of Gardner, KS. Chris is also survived by his companion Rhonda Owen of the home, his pet dogs, Scooby and Peewee, cats Garfield Tater and Charley.

Chris was preceded in death by a sister Stephanie Wanager-Townley; father James M Wanager, Jr; maternal grandparents Harvey & Bessie Gash-Deatherage; paternal grandparents JamesM. Wanager, Sr & Helen Wrisinger-Wanager.

Chris graduated Harrisonville SR High in 1980. He attended Sunday School at Harrisonville Baptist Church in his younger years and is a Baptized Christian, a Boy Scout and was in FFA in High School. He was also involved in fixing up his race cars and driving them in races all around the local race tracks. Chris went into Law Enforcement after taking law enforcement training at then CMSU. He worked as City Marshall in Bates City, Butler and Rich Hill Law Enforcement in his early years. Chris then became a semi-truck driver close to 40 years owning some of his trucks.
