Dear Linda Gail,

I am so sorry to learn of the passing of Dwain, your brother and my cousin. I didn’t see much of your family growing up, but I always looked up to Dwain and Gary.
Dwain was five years older than me, and I remember when he let me drive the tractor. Going down an old pasture road it was all I could do, by riding the foot brake, to keep it under control. Dwain was on board to prevent disaster.
In the mid-fifties, I was with my dad one long weekend at your farm when he built kitchen cabinets. When Dad was growing up, Uncle Ben was his best friend. He felt bad that I didn’t have a brother like he did, instead of six little sisters.
I always felt Dwain most resembled your dad—both men naturally compelled respect and devotion.
On the phone last week, Cousin Steve Harter said he had a great visit with Dwain, July 4th last, at Steve’s house. Would that I had been there!

Sending our love and prayers from Atlanta,

Cousin Alan with his wife Janet
